Question:

How does the thought process "I didn't want to hurt their feelings" come into play with an affair and not putting an abrupt end to it? My husband made that statement about one reason it took him getting caught in order to walk away from the other woman. Is this just him trying to make himself feel better about it (not that that worked for him) or is this really something that many struggle with? What would be the real root of that type of thinking?
