I think that people have some kind of general awareness of PTSD that comes from physical traumas like war, accidents, rape, and the like. But there isn't any understanding about traumas that come from emotional injuries. I am suffering from the emotional traumas of my wife's 2 affairs and the betrayal of an extremely close friend, as well as physical abuse in my childhood that has never been addressed. It would be nice to be able to point my wife at a book that could help her understand what this is like for me. Most of the time I can tell the difference between the normal hurt of her cheating, and the hurt that comes from the trauma, but it definitely isn't clear to those on the outside.
