Question:

My husband and I are in our seventh month of the infidelity recovery process, where he has been getting individual and couples counseling. I'm doing individual and couples therapy, and Harboring Hope. Whenever I broach the topic of "why" this happened, he claims not to know. I find that hard to believe. While he says he is "shocked to the core" for what he did, I'm wondering why he can't provide some insight into why he did what he did? My husband is a good man, who used very poor judgment at many turns. I get the fact that he is embarrassed, but it's important for me to at least gain some insight into what was going on with him at the time he seized the opportunity to cheat, which led to his five-year affair.
