Question
I recently watched a video from you about how an unfaithful spouse can take care of themselves emotionally. You spoke about forgiving ourselves and not seeing this as a failure, but rather as a story of hope and redemption. How do we do that if our story ended in divorce? I am struggling with not seeing myself as a failure when I look at my children and how exhausted they are having to go between two homes now. I see it as a failure when I see the pain I have caused my now ex husband. I see it as a failure when I am at events with other families and feel so much shame now that our family is broken. I am really struggling with self forgiveness when what I did caused so much pain and damage that I wasn’t able to fix. Where do I find hope in all of that?
