Question:

We are 16 months post EMS Weekend and finished Married for Life. Is it possible that couples recover too quickly? We were both unfaithful and betrayed by each other. I’ve done my recovery work and realize the emptiness in me that led me to cheating and the person I was. I am now feeling the pain of emotional trauma and being controlled I’ve experienced by ways I’ve been treated by my husband in the past and I feel sorrowful. I realize that it was my problem and that I allowed myself to be treated that way so I don’t blame him for this. I regret not speaking up for myself and not tolerating that behavior. I have forgiven, but I feel the pain on top of my chest and it feels heavy and it makes me cry a lot. This makes me feel ambivalent about our marriage at times even though we’ve had great progress. Is this normal and what do you suggest?
