We are currently working through the EMS Online program which is not always easy but is certainly creating the space for more intimacy between us. We have been married for 22 years and are 16 months past D-Day. My husband has discovered he has been struggling with a sexual addiction since his preteen years. There was both overt and covert abuse in his broken home life, are there are members of the family with ADD and OCD. My husband has explained a fracturing or splitting of his mind that occurred. My question is one that really baffles me but likely should not if I were more informed on addiction /intimacy disorders and the human psyche. How is it that my husband has always been very unwilling to touch or be touched by people at church or with friends , yet strangers can touch him in a very close way? Also, i'm trying to learn why he is paranoid about germs and unwashed fruit and veggies but was able to be intimate with many strangers? Thank you for any light you can shed on this.
