Within the last 10 months I have found out that my husband of 32 years has been acting out sexually on and off since before and during our marriage. He swears he has not had a physical affair. His acting out has involved massage parlors as a teenager, occasional strip clubs, and adult book stores. Most recently he was addicted to erotic pictures on Facebook and was watching porn in our home on premium channels, sometimes when I was away and sometimes when I was asleep beside him. He’s had off and on erectile dysfunction issues. He’s recently shared that he’s always had insecurities about the size of his penis. Since discovery, a therapist diagnosed him as a Mother Enmeshed Man and this coupled with his insecurities about his size, are the two reasons he’s giving me for acting out. He without a doubt had an unhealthy relationship with his mom, not sexual but a caretaker role his whole life. My questions are, have you heard of the MEM syndrome and if so, do you believe it causes sexual acting out and do you believe his size insecurities could also be a contributing factor?
