Question
I am a codependent sex addict. I have been unfaithful to my wife of 19 years in various ways, including 4 physical affairs, an online relationship through Facebook with an old acquaintance, sexting using a cell phone game with a social chat function, and the compulsive use of porn for masturbation to name a few. I have completed the EMSO course with my wife and saw incredible progress; we are continuing with married for life with our group. I have obtained a sponsor with SAA and have begun working the first step. I am slowly building a safety net of people I can call when I have a question or if I'm in need of help. I attend individual counseling, although not as regularly as I'd like or as I should, it's approximately once every other week and our area doesn't have any certified sex addiction therapists. I have obtained several books and have been reading as much as possible. I have also given my wife numerous D-Days over the last 6-7 months. I slowly admitted terrible things, but I still withheld and lied about others. I can't seem to stop lying no matter how much I pray or seek human help. I have been lying for as long as I can remember, and I want to stop. How do I break the cycle of lying and overcome the compulsion to lie?
