Question:

Rick - my background is in Q&A Are there any interventions you suggest? from 2/9/16. Again, there has been no D-day, but I have evidence confirming a physical affair. I've submitted my response to my wife's divorce petition. I did not agree that we have irreconcilable differences, because that is truly how I feel (including her affair). In our state, this stops the divorce process until we've lived apart for one year (move out was 1/2). She has made it clear she wants to move quickly. As a compromise, I offered to agree to irreconcilable differences in exchange for her taking part in one of several different counseling options (and I included EMSW). She has agreed to 12 sessions with a local counselor. This is a breakthrough by itself, because she hasn't been willing to do anything to explore/address our marital issues voluntarily, but I know God is in control. I feel strongly that I need to push (calmly) for discovery in the early stages of these sessions, as it would form the basis of honesty for everything else that will be discussed and give us the best chance to begin healing. Do you agree or would you suggest a different strategy? Thanks again.
