Q&A How Does an Accountability Partnership Work?

I feel a little foolish for needing to ask this, but how exactly does an accountability partnership work? Is there a template somewhere for how to do a check-in? How do you know how frequently to touch base? Should you expect to scale back over time as more freedom is experienced or is it for life? My dilemma is that I feel genuinely free from my compulsive behaviors and not particularly concerned about relapsing. My wife, understandably, isn’t convinced. I’m not even entirely convinced. So I want monitoring and accountability with some teeth and some kind of verification loop to assure my wife I’m not generating any more secrets. That doesn’t seem to be a feature in what seems like honor-system accountability to me. What am I missing?
