Question:

Exactly one year after buying the home I thought would be our forever haven, I discovered her betrayal. This happened on December 5th, 2023, a date that now marks a painful anniversary instead of a celebration of our life together. Before this betrayal, I had finally reached a place of happiness, the first in decades, despite battling severe PTSD and a traumatic brain injury from my time in the Army. Her actions not only shattered the trust and foundation of our marriage but also reignited my darkest symptoms, pulling me back into a struggle I had worked so hard to manage. I am now grappling with intense emotions—bitterness, resentment, and a profound sense of loss. The fear of being alone clashes with my need for healing, whether it's with her or on my own. Each day is a battle between holding on to the fragments of our past and the daunting prospect of starting anew. How do I cope with the resurgence of past traumas triggered by such betrayal? How do I rebuild trust, if at all, after it's been so profoundly broken? I also want to discuss my reactions, specifically why I blow up. These outbursts stem from the way my pain is handled or, more accurately, mishandled. When I express my hurt and the betrayal I feel, the responses I receive often feel lacking the depth of empathy I desperately need. This lack of understanding or appropriate emotional response triggers intense anger and frustration, leading to blow-ups.
